What got you started producing pageants?
In the early nineties, I found myself alone with a three year old daughter who was beautiful... She had been in several baby pageants. I took my knowledge of special events and put on my first pageant. I had done modeling myself for about 10 years before that.
Was your daughter in that first pageant?
Well, sort of. She was there. Let's say that! We had a very nice, long "T" runway. I had never seen a "T" runway at a pageant before, but I thought it would be fun. Perfect for high fashion competition, right? Back then, I didn't know it, but what I actually produced was more of a modeling "walk-off" than a traditional pageant.
Like Zoolander?
It was great...
Your daughter was 3? She walked on the "T" runway?
She walked down to the end, sat down at the very end...and just took her shoes off. Just sat there.
Oh, my.
Every other contestant seemed to enjoy it, though! We had a lot of contestants from modeling schools and part of what I awarded them were one-on-ones with agents and casting people.
So, will this pageant be a modeling competition?
Modeling part will definitely be a part of this one, as well as many of the others we will be producing in the future. In this Pageant, we have the traditional pageant, the SuperModel and the SpokesModel divisions. And a talent portion.
